The "Clube de Regatas do Flamengo" is known throughout history to always get the upper hand when it comes to legal and judicial matters. Its nearly impossible to see them being punished as much as other clubs do. But what happens on this video shows how corrupt and injust the soccer in Brazil can really be.
The referee for this match is called Jose Roberto Wright, who is known to be a Flamengo fan, was "chosen" to ref this game in 1981. Atletico x Flamengo, Copa Libertadores (the biggest championship in South America).
I'm not singling out Brazil, Im singling out Flamengo RJ. Maybe if this wasnt the first time it ever happened I wouldn say anything, but this kind of thing has happened so many times. Just the other day some Flamengo fan threw a cup filled with urine at one of the rival players, Flamengo went to court and NOTHING happened. And some other fan from Atletico mineiro threw a pair of sandals which didnt even reach the field, and Atletico lost the rights to play in their own stadium.(both trials by the same "Carioca" judge)
@lebeke2- You gotta look at it this way, why did they choose a referee from Rio de Janeiro in the first place which is Flamengo's city? Why did they allow this atrocity to go unpunished?
Maybe if my team had won that match we would have been the world champions, and we had the team for that. Our best player(Reinaldo) at that time is the all time greatest scorer in Brazilian championships who had to stop his career because of a knee injury.

Wow. I am a Flamengo fan, mainly because of its history, but I've got to say...wow. Anyhow, I don't see how its the team's fault if a FAN does something stupid. Can you provide a link on the thing about the Atletico fan? Back on topic, I can see why you'd say its the "biggest robbery in Brazilian football history", because it was that game that propelled Zico and co. into the the Libertadores, and then to their travels to conquer the footballing world in the World Club Championship, being the first Brazilian team to win one since Pele's Santos. Who knows, had they lost that game, the entire future of Flamengo history might have been different.
