(AP:SAO PAULO) Brazil's largest state-run bank says it expects to acquire a U.S. bank by the end of the year. Banco do Brasil's vice president for finances Ivan Monteiro says the acquisition will be approved by Brazilian and American authorities by year's end.

Question by GERALD G: Where can I purchase a "water globe" for a center piece?
I am looking for one of those "old fashion" "water globes". It is a clear glass globe about the size of a bowling ball with a heavy metal base that screws on with many sharp spikes. You take "cut" flowers, impail them on the spikes, fill the globe with cold water and screw the base back on and then stand it upright in the center of a table. The flowers last a long time.
