can i use "Playstation 1" games on my "Playstation 2" ?

Question by curiousgirl: can i use "Playstation 1" games on my "Playstation 2" ?
i want to play final fantasy 9 and 8 but i dont know if it will work on my playstation 2. please answer me .

Yes, any playstation 1 game will work with playstation 2.

    Yeah they work BUT you need a PS1 memory card to save them on, can't use a PS2 memory card.

    yes PS2 is backwards compatible, Playstation games will run on PS2.
