I have a Mac iBook G3. I want to hook up my PS3 so I can play online games. How do I do that?

Also have a router but don't have a clue how to set it up nor do I really want to because I thought it was as simple as just inserting the firewire connetion to the pc and PS3 and I'm then able to play my games online. Any idea how I can do that? Or if I indeed have set up my router, how do I do that?
