what is one of the best online games i can play that involves strategy without monthly fees?

Ive been playing games online on sites such as miniclip, and addicting games, but i have not found any games that entertain me. I like games that are strategic, yet are simplistic and challenging.I dont want to play any games like WOW or runescape. anyone think they can help?

    Civilization any one of them they are ALL GREAT If you have console Civilization revolution. You WILL Love it you control the fate of your own civilization you are the leader you decide if they win or lose.
