You pay to keep Live up and running. There are servers, updates, and people who keep it going that need to be paid. The PSN is free, but Live is much better and has about 4 or 5 times as many members, most of who are Gold subscribers. It should tell you something when people would rather pay for something they could get for free on the PS3.
thats cuz your an idiot.. no offense but the ps3 is free... but xbox live is SO MUCH BETTER. I mean you get what you pay for... plus that guy is right it says something when there's 4-5x the amount of people paying for xbox live and are actually on there, plus ps3's online sucks... i never use it... might as well be trying to play the game with a cellphone or something
