Question by mystic95_z: Can I make my swing work for a 9* driver with a Stiff shaft?
Im 19 and I play "Bogey-Golf" My Handicap is 14. Im 5'10" and 152lbs and I recently recieved a Taylormade R7 "Draw" Driver as a present. It's a 9* with Stiff shaft. Im wondering what my chances are of making this thing work? Any tips on getting a nice launch angle? Im going to the range 2morrow morning for the 1st time and playing a round after so any help I can get tonight would be awesome.

Im sorry, I just saw stiff shaft & fell to the floor.....
What do you think? Answer below!
Don't let the flex and loft intimidate you. It won't make a huge difference at your level, with the exception of the fact that you may try to swing harder or differently to compensate for your perception that this is too much club for you. Just swing it like normal and it will work just fine. A good shot will still be good and a bad shot will still be bad.
ReplyDeletejust play normal....that club is nothing special just a stiff shaft, my driver is a deep red 7.5 degree with the tour shaft, I can hit a mile and still get it in the air
ReplyDeleteAll you have to do with a stiff shaft is make sure you swing fast enough for the shaft to actually bend like a reg-flex. I have a slow swing so i have a reg flex. Find a good club head speed and the stiff shaft will work fine.
ReplyDeleteits like the blind leading the blind....take your new driver to a golf course that is having a demo day with a launch monitor, its free and then and only then will you be able to find the right loft and flex that will make you a more consistent driver of the golf ball....after you get the right driver take some lessons, ask the teacher about your swing path...there within lies the answer to good golf.
