What's the worst habit the "news" has?

Question by water_skipper: What's the worst habit the "news" has?
I've heard people complain about "liberal news" or "conservative news." Personally, I'm not sure there is such think. I think the apparent bias in the "news" is actually caused some really bad habits the "news" has. For example, one thing I really hate is when a "news" headline has a question in it. Instead making a statement such as "The animated Olympic logo is a seizzure risk" it has a question such as "Is the animated Olympic logo a seizzure risk?" Basically, the headline is a question to trick people into reading the article rather than just making a useful statement. What other bad habits do you think the "news" has?

  1. Another thing is that they are lazy and treat press releases like news events instead of doing original research.

  2. Reporting speculation rather than news. The media has no patience to wait till facts are known before reporting. We have to hear way too much media hype before we get the truth of the news.

  3. Spending a ridiculous amount of time repeating themselves over and over, staying on a "breaking news" subject for hours on end with no new info to report. For example - Anna Nicole Smith died - Paris Hilton is going to jail. How many ways can they say it? how many more people can they find to interview and hear - I don't know anything yet.
