What is the difference between "salary" and "wages"?

Question by suumitbhola: What is the difference between "salary" and "wages"?
What is the difference between "salary" and "wages"?

Best answer:

Answer by cgillis73
When you get a salary it is a yearly figure-no matter what. Even if you get out early, have to stay extra hours for finishing the work assigned, etc. You are not entitled to "overtime pay." Usually a salary will be more than you would make during a year if you were "punching in" or keeping track of your hours for your employer.

Wages you will probably get paid by the hour, week or by the "job" but generally speaking "wages" can just be the money you get in exchange for your labor.

What is the difference between "international studies" and "cultural anthropology"?

Question by Erinne: What is the difference between "international studies" and "cultural anthropology"?
I am trying to find out the difference between "international studies" major and "cultural anthropology" major. I want to know I am going to be studying the right thing when I attend college. I love different cultures, people, languages, and travels. My favorite classes were world history and world geography. I am not interested in foreign political relations as I've been seeing whenever I research "international studies". Can you help me clarify the difference? Thanks!

Answer by Desk3Bound
Actually there is very little difference between cultural anthropology and sociology. There is more overlap between those two than international studies.

International studies is more akin to political science.

What's the difference between a "college" and a "university"?

Question by Woody Y: What's the difference between a "college" and a "university"?
I saw an item in the news the other day where some "college", I can't remember which, wanted to change its name to "university". Or maybe it was the other way around - I forget.

Anyway, they seemed to feel that one title or the other had more cache and would attract a higher caliber of student.

Does anyone know - is there any specific thing that distinguishes a "college" from a "university"? Obviously it's not important but I've always been curious.

Best answer:

Answer by geekboywonder
College- one school
University- alliance of schools

An example... I went to Stephen F Austin State University... there were originally Texas State Teachers' College and the East Texas School of Forestry. When they joined forces, it became a university.

This is why you hear "Yada Yada University, Bing Finkleman School of Law..."

They are the same apart from those differences, however, Japanese has one extra web feature, but you can't use it anyway, it's for Japanese residents and it's in Japanese. Nothing else.

What is the difference between an IP-Pbx telephone system and a normal PBX?

Question by kakashisama_sharingan s: What is the difference between an IP-Pbx telephone system and a normal PBX?
So i am looking for a telphone system for my small sized company. We need something that provides us one phone number but in case the line is busy another staff member can get the diverted call even though he/she is sitting in a completely seperate country.

What are the differences between IP-PBX and normal PBX systems. We have roughly 14 employees so would need around that many phone lines of similar numbers.

Thank you.
P:s could you also link some product if u have in mind thanks.

Answer by Jennifer
A traditional pbx system is going to be a hardware solution to plug all of the telephone lines into. While a virtual PBX is going to be a software solution. IP phones work particularly well for a virtual PBX because all of the phones are connected to your LAN within the office.

Here is a link to Axon which is a very cost effective virtual PBX that you can combine with other application to make a complete phone system.
http://www.nch.com.au/pbx/plus.html
for example add IVM for an auto attendant and voicemail, and/or IMS for advanced on-hold messaging capabilities.

You can use this system with either VoIP telephone lines which would be easiest and cheaper if you decide to go that route, or you can use it with your standard analog landline phone lines too, but you will need additional harware in the form of a telephony board or fxo adapter to connect the phoneline(s) to your computer
(ex. http://www.altoedge.com/telephony/index.html )

Since you mentioned IP here are some IP telephones that you can take a look at:

I hope that is at least a good start to an answer for you!

XPEERience Group Team Building Games Can Make A Difference

What is an employer or manager to do when their staff just does not seem to get it? When a staff does not get the overall picture, the entire machine can break down. All it takes is one person to fall behind or slack off and it can create havoc in every department that they are directly or indirectly involved with. To stress the importance of everyone's role as an individual to the overall team, XPEERience Group offers team building games that can bring everyone together at the work place.

Most people are familiar with the television show The Amazing Race. Even if they have not actually watched it, they have probably seen the ads for it. The teams that win are always the ones that work together and play into each other's strengths. One of the team building games featured at XPEERience Groups is based off this show and is one of the most popular games for team building that they have.

While your team will not have the benefit of traveling around the world to achieve their ultimate goal, they will have to find their way around a 200,000 sq. ft. playground and meet every challenge that comes their way. In order to successfully complete this game, they are going to have to work together as team, rely on their strengths, and overcome their partner's weaknesses to be successful.

One of the other team building games that is available is Dragon Boating. If you have ever been in a canoe, you already know how important it is for everyone to work together in order to keep the boat straight and moving forward. This outdoor activity for team building is a great way to show even the most reserved person that their role is just as important as someone who is outgoing and the center of attention. Anyone that does not do what they are supposed to be doing can throw off the direction of the entire boat. This is a fun way to bring that point home to them.

The Scavenger Hunt is yet another of the team building games offered by the XPEERience group that can truly open up everyone's eyes to teamwork. This is an exercise where overconfident staff members will realize they may not quite know everything and where timid staff will realize how vital their input can be. When that shy member figures out a clue that has everyone else stumped, it can do wonders for both that individuals' self-esteem and for how they are perceived around the office.

The entire point of team building games is to let everyone know that no one person is more important than the next and that everyone plays a vital role in the success of a company. The XPEERience group has perfected the art of team building and is here to help your company come together as a team. When you look around the office and see everyone operating as a an individual with little regard as to how their actions affect the entire place of business, give XPeerience Group a call and allow them to create an adventure that will once again have your staff operating as a focused and team oriented unit.

Cheese loved th fact that we were there. We were only joking around with them, and they were having fun with it as well. There was no malice or ill will when we made this video.
