Do people who have taken some college courses, but no degree, have any advantage over those with only a high school diploma for employment? For example someone has one or two years worth of college experience, but never finished a degree. Does it help anything at all? They say the more education you have, the better chances you have for success. But is this still true in this situation? What are the advantages of having "some college", but no degree?

I'm a junior and looking at colleges I want to visit this summer, and a lot of them require two years of "social studies" classes (separate from an additional 2 years of history classes). I'm just wondering what classes specifically would be considered social studies, since it's not the same thing as history? I know my school offers psychology and sociology, but also mythology which I took freshman year, and I'm not sure if that's a social study.
